PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing penalty win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
